What Parents Are Saying
Are students excited about participating in the Mandarin Immersion Program or do they feel it is extra work?
Are there opportunities to volunteer in the classroom during the Mandarin portion of the day? Will I feel disconnected from the classroom?
Will learning in Mandarin for half of the school day show down my child's progress in learning to read in English or with other kindergarten/first grade curriculum?
My neighborhood school is Everett/Sheridan. Will my child be upset that s/he is arrving late to and leaving early from Cherokee?
How will I help my child with homework in Mandarin when I don't speak the language? Will more be expected from parents?
Is there opportunity to volunteer in the classroom during the Mandarin portion of the day? Will I feel disconnected from the classroom?
How will the Mandarin teacher help my child not to feel frustrated when s/he doesn't understand what is being said?
Do children really learn to speak, read, write, and understand Mandarin in a 50/50 immersion model?
